Heartonomy is an independent game company based in New York City, founded by game designer Hayden Cacace and developer Rudd Zwolinski.
Hayden Cacace started his career as a Sims developer at EA in California, but because of distaste for the AAA development environment, he found himself back in New York working at an education technology company, with game development relegated to a hobby. In 2010, Hayden collaborated with song writer Kurt Feldman of The Depreciation Guild to build an original iOS game called TileWild, which sold almost enough copies to recoup the $99 it takes to put the game onto the App Store. In the time that followed, Hayden became frustrated with the small amount of time he could actually devote to his own projects, so he left on his own to start Heartonomy.StarLicker
Hayden started work on a new iOS game immediately, recruiting William Mendoza as the project's artist and Kurt Feldman as the sound designer and composer. He planned to get it out within 2 to 3 months. Six months later, with still only a prototype and a realization of the huge project scope he had created, he knew he needed a full time developer on the project. He asked his friend Rudd Zwolinski, whom he had met at his previous job, to leave and take the indie plunge with him. Rudd agreed and became the co-founder of Heartonomy. Over a year after starting StarLicker, Heartonomy finally released its first game.Recent
After StarLicker's disappointing earnings, Heartonomy started doing client work full time. In their free time, they continue to work on their own original indie games, including putting out a remastered version of TileWild and various prototypes of new ideas.
